A Point of Interest (POI) is a location in the world generally consisting of a tightly designed structure, which plays like a mini-dungeon, containing mob spawners, traps, loot, and/or locations of significance for quests. When first discovered by a player, that player receives an Advancement, which contains the name and coordinates of the POI. Also, if the POI hasn't been interacted with recently, a player's proximity to the location will trigger a timer, which, when elapsed, resets the POI to its original state. The amount of time remaining before the next reset can be checked by right-clicking with a Quest Compass while crouching.

Mechanics[]

In Monumenta, POIs features a lot of custom mechanics, making them unique among the world of CTMs.

Respawn Timer[]

Every POI internally possesses a respawn timer. When the timer reaches zero and a player is near the respawn range but not within the boundaries of the POI, the POI resets its terrain and contents to their pristine state. The timer also is "set to zero" when the POI is conquered, therefore respawning the moment all players exit its boundaries.

Every block is restored, every chest is refilled and every mob spawner gets restored.

The amount of time remaining before the next reset can be checked by right-clicking with a Quest Compass while sneaking.

Dungeon Entrances[]

Some POIs are used as a dungeon entrance. Reaching a special entrance within the POI is required to access the associated Dungeon lobby.

Once the player has done this, the player can exit the dungeon lobby via the pressure plate to the capital to unlock the dungeon's teleporter in Sierhaven / Mistport.

Advancements[]

Upon discovering a new POI, the player is awarded an Advancement, which contains the name and coordinates of the POI.

There are also advancements for discovering all of the POIs in a given area, but only in the King's Valley.
